Women Empowerment and The Society
A woman has always been portrayed as a damsel in distress in almost all the Contexts in Indian cinema. It is only recently that women started playing roles in movies which were self empowered and did not need a man to get validated. Where does it end ? This is a question people need to ask themselves when it comes to Indian women. Our society views the journey of a woman with the destination of marriage, no matter how much success she might have achieved. India got it's first female educator in 1848 AD, Savitribai Phule. Then years after that the Indian nation accepted the leadership of a female Prime Minister, then with Kalpana Chawala becoming the first female astronaut of India and Pratibha Patil as the first female President of the country, many norms were broken .
